APPOINTMENT PREPARATION

At Bobbi Bullock Medical Esthetics, we want you to have an incredible experience. Here’s what to expect and how to prepare.

Botox

Pre-General

  • It takes 10 days to be fully developed. Touch-ups will only be done between days 10-21.
  • Can be uneven on days 3-9 as it sets up and lasts 3-4 months.
  • If bruising is a concern, avoid ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, aspirin, fish oil and red wine 1 week prior.

Post-General

  • No other facial treatments after Botox.
  • If booked for multiple treatments, Botox is always performed last.
  • Avoid exercise, extreme heat or cold, or pressure on the face for 4 hours after injections.
  • Injections will leave with tiny poke marks, some may bruise. May apply make-up right away.
  • No massage appointments for 48 hours.

Dermal Filler

Pre-General

  • You may not be a candidate if you have auto-immune disease as your body may reject it. Please discuss with injector.
  • No dental procedures or cleanings 2 weeks prior.
  • No vaccines for 2 weeks prior.
  • No active sinusitis, common cold, ear, nose, throat infections or dental disease.
  • Do not arrive wearing foundation.
  • Lips can swell significantly for the first 3-4 days.
  • Typically, patients are 80% healed at 2 weeks, and 100% at 6-8 weeks.
  • Filler can last anywhere from 1-2 years depending on the type of filler used.
  • To help decrease bruising, avoid ibuprofen, Advil, Aleve, aspirin, Motrin and red wine 1 week prior to injections.
  • Arnica tabs can be taken before procedures and can potentially help heal injection sites after treatment. (gel and/or oral tablets).

Post-General

  • May be bruised and swollen for up to 2-8 weeks.
  • Takes a full 6-8 weeks for 100% healing.
  • Lips can be significantly swollen for several days, with day 2-3 being the most severe.
  • Apply ice for a brief period following treatment to minimize swelling.
  •  May take antihistamine such as Claritin or Allegra for swelling.
  • There is always a risk of injection-site reactions.
  • Keep fingers and make-up off the injection sites.

 

    Post Filler Timeline

    Avoid for 12 hours:

    • Make-up.

    Avoid for 24 hours:

    • Alcoholic beverages.
    • Skin care products.
    • Strenuous exercise.

    Avoid for 48 hours:

    • Extreme cold, heat, or extensive sun.
    • Resist touching or massaging the treated area.
    • Flying in airplane.

    Avoid for 2 weeks:

    • Dental cleaning and procedures.
    • Vaccines.
    • Speak with provider before scheduling a laser treatment, chemical peel, or any other procedure.

    The injection site can be lumpy, swollen, or distorted. It typically will resolve- 80% in 2 weeks, and 100% in 6-8 weeks.  This is expected. 

      When to be concerned:

      • You are having more pain than you think you should be having, if the pain is getting worse, or the pain is nerve pain ie in your tooth or jaw.
      • Any difficulty with your vision.
      • If the skin is dusky, gray, not getting blood supply or black.

          Prescription Strength Chemical Peel (The Perfect Peel or Vitalize)

          Pre-General

          • Must stop Retin-A, Hydroquinone, and all BBME BSRx products for 7-10 days prior to peel
          • Seven-day project with biggest peel on days 3-5
          • Best preformed in months other than summer
          • May repeat as soon as 4 weeks

          Post-General

          • Wear peel home, and you will be slightly orange and greasy
          • Wash peel off in 4-6 hours, or you may sleep in it for a deeper peel
          • Follow post-peel instruction and use products included in the kit
          • You must avoid the sun for the duration of the peel and thereafter
          • Avoid exercise or heat for 24 hours
          • MUST wear high SPF sunscreen or you may scar or hyper-pigment
          • May slightly sting or feel hot

          Light Peel Refresh or Clean and Clear Acne Peel or Brighten Up Anti-Aging Facial Peel

          Pre-General

          • No prep needed, easy same day service 
          • Must not be allergic to aspirin or apples 

          Post-General

          • You will be red and greasy leaving spa, or may wear peel home for a deeper service 
          • May slightly sting or feel hot
          • Very little to no peeling 
          • Looks great over the next 2-3 days
          • May retreat in 3 weeks

           

            Dermaplane Mini-Facial with Extractions

            Pre-General

            • No prep needed, easy same day service

            Post-General

            • Easy service 
            • Will leave looking pink and shiny 
            • Extraction sites may be red and enflamed, this should settle within 48 hours
            • No downtime- Great same day service or pick me up

            Rejuvepen Micro-Needling Peptide Gel- No blood drawn (Included in BSRx program) 

            Pre-General

            • 7-day total project
            • Can repeat in 4 weeks
            • Stop Retin-A, hydroquinone, and all BBME BSRx prescriptions 7 days prior.

            Post-General

            • Client will leave looking red, greasy and windburn for 3+ days
            • Your skin will slightly peel and be itchy
            • Stay out of the sun while healing
            • Use take home kit with products including high SPF
            • Can cause temporary bruising, especially with injections of PRP 
            • Can take up to 6 weeks to see full results

            Platelet Rich Plasma (PRP)- Your blood will be drawn. Arrive hydrated

            Pre-General

            • 7-day total project.
            • Can repeat in 4 weeks.
            • Stop Retin-A, hydroquinone, and all BBME BSRx prescriptions 7 days prior.

              Post-General

              • Client will leave looking red, greasy and windburn for 3+ days.
              • Your skin will slightly peel and be itchy.
              • Stay out of the sun while healing.
              • Use take home kit with products including high SPF.
              • Can cause temporary bruising, especially with injections of PRP.
              • Can take up to 6 weeks to see full results.

              CoolSculpting

              Pre-General

              • Be prepared to dress down into bra and panty. Before/after photos, and measurements will be taken.  It is mandatory for our malpractice. All documentation including photos are HIPPA protected.
              • Eat before arrival as clients do better with some food in their stomach .
              • Bring something to read/watch/do as the day can be long. Netflix, WIFI, and snacks available.
              • If your appointment is 3 or more hours, lunch is provided
              • CoolSculpting is not a weight-loss tool.

              Post-General

              • Most people need two rounds of treatments 30+ days apart.
              • Full results are seen within 90 days.
              • Area can be swollen, tender, itchy, firm, numb, and can bruise.
              • Compression garments may be comforting to the abdomen.
              • It is NOT recommended to take anti-inflammatories.
              • No other restrictions.

                CoolTone

                Pre-General

                • Be prepared to dress down into bra and panty. Before/after photos and measurements will be taken 
                • No metal such as piercings, implanted devices, or copper IUD can be present during cool tone treatment
                • Bring non electronic entertainment such as book or magazine as no electronics can be used during treatment
                • Best results seen in those with a BMI <25

                Post-General

                • Results seen after completion of recommended package.
                • Maintaining a healthy and active lifestyle will further results and aid in sustaining results.

                  Lumecca IPL (Intense Pulsed Light) (Included in BSRx program)

                  Pre-General

                  • Not for those with melasma!
                  • Stop Retin-A, hydroquinone, and all BBME BSRx prescriptions 7 days prior. 
                  • Seven-day project depending on how aggressive of a treatment you desire, and pre-condition of your skin
                  • Can repeat in 4 weeks

                  Post-General

                  • You will leave looking red, greasy and feeling hot
                  • Your skin may “pepper” (small, light brown scabs) up as the tissue heals
                  • Stay out of the sun and wear high SPF or you will hyper-pigment or scar
                  • We will give you a take home kit with products  
                  • Can take up to 6 weeks to see full results

                    Radio Frequency Micro-Needling – Morpheus8
                    Radio Frequency- Can be used with PRF or Peptide Gel

                    Pre-RF Micro-Needling Procedures

                    • 14-28 day project depending on how aggressive of a treatment you desire, and pre condition of your skin.
                    • Can repeat in 4 weeks .
                    • Stop Retin-A, hydroquinone, and all BBME BSRx prescriptions 7 days prior.
                    • Inform the technician if have taken Accutane in the past year.
                    • Treatment cannot not be performed on broken or sun exposed skin or if self-tanner has been used in the past 2 weeks. Avoid prolonged sun exposure prior to treatment day.

                     

                      Post-Procedures

                      • You will look red, greasy and windburn for 7+ days. It will feel itchy.
                      • You may have some crusting or scabbing 
                      • Your skin will slightly peel and look/feel “stamped” for up to 4-6 weeks 
                      • Stay out of the sun while healing, always wear a mineral-based sun screen
                      • We will give you a take-home kit with products & instructions

                      Radio Frequency Micro-Needling BODY– Morpheus8
                      Radio Frequency- Can be used with PRF or Peptide Gel

                      Prior to your appointment Pre-treatment considerations

                      • Do not take aspirin and Ibuprofen and anti-coagulants for one week prior to your treatment. Inform the technician if you are taking blood thinners or regularly take aspirin or ibuprofen.
                      • Avoid active ingredients such as Retinol, Tretinoin, Glycolic, Salicylic, topical exfoliants or any sensitizing ingredients for one week prior.
                      • Do not drink alcohol for 2 days prior to treatment.
                      • Inform the technician if have taken Accutane in the past year.
                      • Treatment can not be performed on broken or sun-exposed skin or if self-tanner has been used in the past 2 weeks. Avoid prolonged sun exposure prior to treatment day.

                      After your appointment Post-treatment considerations

                      • Immediately after treatment redness will be present on the skin and can last up to 24-48 hours. A “sunburned” feeling on treatment area is common and your skin may be temperature sensitive for several days after treatment. Avoid exercise, hot tubs, hot baths, and showers for 24 hours. Makeup and SPF may be worn in 48 hours.
                      • Swelling is common come days 2-3 after treatment, sleeping elevated with head propped up will help decrease puffiness in the days to follow.
                      • Days 1-5 days post-treatment the skin may crust or scab, have pin-point patterns, pigment darkening or peel. Do not rub the treatment area or try to scrub the patterns or peeling away. This is part of the healing process and should start to slough off after one week.
                      • Must wear light fitting clothing to avoid scraping off crust or scab
                      • Avoid using any active ingredients such as Retinols, Tretinoin, Glycolic, Salicylic and facial exfoliants. Only use designed post-care given by BBME for 1 week. You may resume your regular skin care once your skin is back to “normal”.
                      • Avoid sun exposure after treatment is performed - always wearing a mineral-based sunscreen
                      • To achieve optimum results a series of 3 Morpheus8 Skin Remodeling treatments shall be performed spaced 4 weeks apart with proper skin care regimen at home. To create the most predictable results possible your service provider will create this customized plan for you.

                        Viveve /O-Shot

                        Pre-General

                        • May have one service or both.
                        • Use the SUI Tracking sheet for one week to document baseline.
                        • Must not be on period.
                        • Will disrobe from waist down.
                        • Two-hour procedure for both services.
                        • If peri or post-menopausal, may need vaginal estrogen cream from your PCP or GYN provider for full results.
                        • Procedure conducted by an RN.

                        Post-Procedure

                        • You will be given a take home vaginal device, the Apex-M with instructions to strengthen the pelvic floor.
                        • Nothing in the vagina for 2 days after treatment.
                        • Full results seen in 115 days.
                        • Results last 12-18 months.
                        • If peri or post-menopausal, may need vaginal estrogen cream from your PCP or GYN provider for full results.

                        Kybella

                        Pre-General

                        • Do not schedule Kybella within 6 weeks of a big event. There will be swelling as this is part of the expected process!
                        • Do not schedule dental procedures within two weeks after Kybella treatment. 
                        • To help avoid bruising (unless directed by your physician or provider), discontinue the use of aspirin, ibuprofen, red wine, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E one week prior to the procedure.
                        • Please notify us if you have a history of DIFFICULTY SWALLOWING.

                        Post-Procedure

                        • Redness, numbness, bruising, and swelling are normal.  
                        • The area will be quite swollen for several days and diminish slowly over the next few weeks.  
                        • Numbness, discomfort or tenderness is common for the first few weeks to several months.
                        • Do not rub or massage the treated area. 
                        • You may gently clean the area with mild soap. 
                        • Avoid irritants (glycolic acid, retinoids, etc.) until all redness/swelling resolves. 
                        • You may apply cool compresses/ice for 3-5 minutes several times an hour for comfort on the first day.  
                        • Make-up may be used as soon as the next day. 
                        • To help avoid bruising (unless directed by your physician or provider), discontinue the use of aspirin, ibuprofen, red wine, fish oil, St. John’s Wort, and high doses of vitamin E for 1 week post procedure.
                        • Avoid strenuous exercise and alcohol for 24 hours after treatment. 
                        • Avoid dental work for 2 weeks after procedure. 
                        • Marginal mandibular nerve damage may occur resulting in an uneven smile. This is usually temporary but could become permanent.
                        • You should immediately notify Bobbi Bullock Medical Esthetics 208.949.9904 if you have any questions or concerns, or see any signs of problems (severe or extended pain and/or redness, continued swelling, severe bruising, lumpiness, fever or sign of infection, trouble swallowing, uneven smile or trouble with moving the mouth/chin).
